Here, we’re starting off amid the storied surrounds of Merida where you’ll learn about ancient sacrificial rites, swim with flamingos and bed-down in a jungled hacienda. From there, it’s out to the coast and a few days on the beach in the Riviera Maya. Your trip starts amid the storied surrounds of Merida with a stay at the tranquil Chable Yucatan. Set on acres and acres of tropical jungle, this ancient hacienda holds much to explore with an orchard, resident deer herd and even a firefly field. Spend your first day settling in and getting comfortable before an expert tour of nearby Merida the next day. On this brief but vibrant trip, you’ll be treated to sights including the main zocalo, the museum of Canton Palace and the Monumento a la Patria; the Monument to the Fatherland. The afternoon, it’s up to you, whether you stroll the shops, check out the local eateries or perhaps return to the inviting pool at Chable.<\/p>\n
Tomorrow, however, set your alarm for an early start as a private guide takes you to the Mayan ruins of Chich\u00e9n-Itz\u00e1. This series of pyramids and hand-built structures is the most famous on the Yucat\u00e1n peninsula, however, your guide will whisk you past the queue on a personal tour away from the masses. See the famous El Castillo del Serpiente Emplumado, clamber along the ruins and discover the Mayan’s mystical side out at the nearby Cenote Sagrado with its history of human sacrifice<\/p>\n

One thing not to miss whilst exploring this corner of the Yucatan is Celestun Biosphere Reserve. In the company of an expert nature guide, traverse the shores of the large saltwater lagoon where a flock of over 2,000 flamingos gather whilst natural cenote springs bubble below the surface. It\u2019s a magical place for a swim before returning to Chable and the comfort of your private pool. Or if you’d rather stay busy, there’s a chocolate-making class to see you through to dinner.<\/p>\n
From Merida, it’s then out to the coast and a stay at the beachfront resort of Nizuc. Spend a few days here taking things at your own pace, diving in between the pool and the ocean. There’s plenty to keep everyone entertained from cooking classes and kayaking to stand-up paddle-boarding and tennis. If you fancy one last dose of culture, however, we’ll also set you up with a private guide to show you around the nearby Tulum and Sian Ka\u00e1n monuments. The first is considered to be one of the most beautiful Mayan sites, whilst the second is a sublime area of natural beauty, home to thousands of species of flora and fauna.
