It’s difficult to put my finger on the precise “origin” of Black Tomato. Perhaps it was somewhere in the Philippines, on a juddering bus we took along winding valley floors. What was around us was life; smiling vendors who’d jump on at each stop, animals (on the bus), farmers with their wares. Together, we made our slow way into the chocolate hills of Bohol. But it might also have been a wilderness camp beneath the stars of the Great Ocean Road, where we realized the remarkable was a place you can visit. You just need somebody to show you the way.

The ‘somebody’ is easier to answer. It’s always been about finding the right people for the best possible job. At Black Tomato, we’re lucky to work with some of the most experienced and passionate experts in the world; people for whom travel is not just second but first nature. Their curiosity for our planet helps us to create the kinds of moments, and memories, that us founders shared many years ago. Behind all this is our network of friends around the world (partners, guides, and local experts); people who we’re happy to think of as an extended family.
