Back in 2003, the earliest idea of Black Tomato was dreamt up. And it happened on an Australian beach. You could say that it inspired everything we’ve done since.
The beach? Wineglass Bay, of course. These days, you’re more likely to find our founders on Lizard Island – with its 24 private beaches, all within diving distance of the Great Barrier Reef. When we got the company rolling, we decided to never lose sight of Australia. With over 15 years of contacts, local knowledge, and friendships, our bespoke itineraries to this golden, rich and rewarding country can truly deliver anything; from a chef’s-table tour of the picturesque Yarra Valley, blending your own wines under the tutelage of a Chief Winemaker, an exclusive ‘just you’ retreat at Kangaroo Island, or a private-plane transfer low over the bush toward a private camp in the Bamurru Plains. Anything is possible on a luxury tour of Australia.
Use the below as inspiration, then get in touch to plan your very own luxury Australian vacation.

The Great Barrier Reef – a medley of vivid colors and dynamic wildlife that’s completely unique to Australia. Consisting of over 900 islands, there’s more than one way to experience this world wonder. Observe it from the air, opt for scuba diving, or embark on a guided snorkelling tour; the choice is yours. One more question though: can we still call it a sliver of paradise if it can be seen from space?
Easily one of the most recognizable skylines in the world, Sydney is an oceanside city that puts others to shame. While it’s worth its weight in gold with dazzling galleries, upbeat beaches, and boutique restaurants, it’s the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge that steal the spotlight. For a heart-pounding experience, climb the Harbor Bridge for 360-degree views of the city.
Our best piece of advice? Jump in a car and prepare to witness the vista that tops all vistas. One of the most popular road trips in the word, the Great Ocean Road is home to rock-stacks protruding from the sea, rolling hills, and dramatic crashing waves. If we coined the term ‘open-road tranquility’, a breezy day on a journey to the 12 Apostles would be the accompanying photo.
Sydney & the blue mountains
Explore Australia’s iconic capital and the incredible range to its West.
Sparkling, sophisticated and confident, Sydney – backed by the range of the awe-inspiring Blue Mountains – embodies everything that is glamorous and modern about Australia. With a coastal path that stretches from Bondi to Coogee, the bustling harbor, the iconic Opera House, and trendy Newtown (with the eucalyptus forests, waterfalls and peaks of the National Park behind you), Sydney has much to offer.
The great barrier reef
It’s more than just a reef. It’s 1,900 reefs.
It is easy to throw out a cliche about the reef, that it is “out of this world.” But that wouldn’t be true. Here, from Lady Elliot Island and to the edge of New Guinea (some 2,300km away), the reef is an incredible and intricate labyrinth of cays, ribbons, islets, canyons and – of course – nature. You can sleep on private islands within diving distance of it, or else take an expert-led tour of it by day. The nearby islands of the Whitsundays & Cairns offer an exotic stepping stone into this earthly paradise.
Melbourne (and beyond)
Art, culture and cuisine on Australia’s southeastern coast.
A theme emerges. That each great Australian city is paired with an incredible hinterland. For Melbourne, in Australia’s southeast, it’s the Mornington Peninsula and the Yarra Valley wine region). Trendy, easygoing, fun, Melbourne is all about plazas, bars, art and restaurants. In the Yarra Valley, we’ll pair you with expert sommeliers and local chefs to truly taste and sample the land that feeds this city.
