Hotel Van Cleef, Bruges
What springs to mind when you think of Bruges? Fairytale setting, cobbled streets and quaint homes perched along winding canals. Hotel Van Cleef is no exception. Beautifully set within an 18th century neoclassical mansion, this boutique retreat peacefully nestles along the water’s edge. Steeped in over 700 years of history, it was once home to the dukes and counts of eras past. Whilst staying true to heritage, the refreshed contemporary flair brings together grandeur and relaxed comfort within its 15 guest rooms. It’s one truly irresistible escape.
LOCATION
Close enough to stroll to the sights of Bruges’ historic center, yet far enough removed enough to relish the quiet intimacy, Hotel Van Cleef’s waterfront setting presents the best of both worlds. Set on the edge of Sint-Anna district, step out of the doors and stroll by the windmills soaring beside the old city walls and over to Bruges Market Square. For those flying into Belgium, Bruges can be reached within a 90-minute drive from the cities of Brussels or Antwerp.
YOUR ROOM
Preserving the country house elegance, each room has been individually curated to present its own unique charm. The use of mildly eccentric fabrics within the warm and cozy spaces create a home away from home. We absolutely love the Hermès Canal Suites for the plush, acclaimed fabrics and chic design, but particularly for the sprawling views over the canals, medieval rooftops and towers of Bruges. With only 15 rooms and suites, you can be assured of a relaxed stay whichever room suits your style.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Buttery pastries and freshly squeezed juice at breakfast is served beneath the crystal chandeliers and animated artwork of the Green Room. Complimentary afternoon tea is served later in the day, with freshly baked cakes delivered straight from Pâtisserie Prestige. While the sun is bright, grab one of the hotel bicycles and head out to explore the lanes and green spaces of Bruges, then wind down the day with drinks out on the terrace as the sun gently sets over the canal.
