THE JOURNEY BEGINS
You’ll begin your journey in Vancouver, a sprawling city that boasts thousands of acres of park land, quirky neighborhoods and views of the North Shore Mountains. Be sure to make time for a day or two of exploration here, as Vancouver is famed for its food, its culture, its beaches and so much more. Then, when you’re done with this special slice of Canada’s West Coast, it’s time to board that most famous of vessels; The Rocky Mountaineer.
From Vancouver, you’ll begin your voyage on to Kamloops. Settle in to your seat beneath a glass-domed roof and enjoy panoramic views of the incredible sights that you’ll pass by. At breakfast, you’ll be taking in the spectacular views of rushing water at Hells Gate in the Fraser Canyon and by lunch, you’ll be wining and dining whilst speeding alongside the rock sheds on the Thompson River. If you need to stretch your legs, take a wander out to the viewing deck and breathe in that fresh mountain air as the sun sets and you pull in to Kamloops for a luxurious overnight stay.

Start PlanningALPINE LAKES AND NATIONAL PARKS
A new day means a new journey on The Rocky Mountaineer, and this is one that will see you taken to Banff. The oldest National Park in Canada, there are a plethora of alpine lakes, snow-capped mountains and interesting wildlife to be seen here. Upon arrival, we will provide you with a private car so you can really make the most of the area. Leaving behind the railways, it’s time to escape into the wilderness on the hunt for Banff’s most iconic hot spots. Lake Louise will undoubtedly be on your list, so drive down there and canoe over the lake for some incredible photo opportunities. Banff Gondola, Bow Lake and the Icefields Parkway are also incredible sights, so be sure to programme them into your GPS system.
FROM WILDERNESS TO URBAN HIGHLIGHT
After a few nights in Banff, it’s back into your car for your final but no less spectacular journey down to Calgary. Passing Lake Minnewaka and more mountainous landscapes as you go; you’ll slowly leave behind the wilderness and enter a cosmopolitan and exciting city. Take a food tour through the city’s colorful farmers’ markets and explore the abundance of museums and galleries that Calgary is incredibly proud of.
This is one trip that is most certainly about the journey, not the destination.
