8 nights ideal length

Up for a long week of indulgence on the glistening Adriatic? Look no further: we have the snip of the century. Our travel experts have scoured the length and breadth of the Mediterranean but there are two spots we just can’t stay away from. Far from the bright lights of Nice and the crowds of Amalfi, the Adriatic plays host to an altogether more natural beauty and an atmosphere of blissful escapism. Step into our world as you head to Croatia for a spot of island hopping, history and local cuisine before retreating to the peace and tranquility of Aman Sveti Stefan in Montenegro. Surrounded by natural beauty every step of the way, this is eight nights of Adriatic elegance that is too good to pass up on.

Step Back in Time in Split

A hotbed of history and culture, your Adriatic adventure begins in the charming town of Split. A town with a past that spans over one and a half millennia and made up of influences drawn from countless invaders, head out to the countryside to get a glimpse of local traditions handed down through the generations. In Sinj, you’ll step back to medieval times as you encounter the knightly tournament of Sinjska Alka; a celebration of victory over the Ottomans, it’s an experience unique to the region and cherished fiercely by locals. Get behind the scenes with a visit to the stables before saddling up for a private horseriding lesson in the prestigious hippodrome.

From Sinj, wind your way onto Gata. A former so-called ‘peasants republic’, here you’ll get a taste of local rural life as you join a local family at their home to prepare the traditional specialty of soparnik. A lunch filled with tales of past and present and opening up to views of the Cetina River Canyon, it beats any restaurant recommendation in a big city. Come afternoon, return to Split for a private walking tour, taking in the beautiful views from atop St Duje’s Cathedral.

Start Planning

Island Hop to Korcula

Leaving Split behind, you’ll then spend the day privately sailing between Croatia’s beautiful islands, strewn like emeralds across the Adriatic. Your first port of call is the Pakleni Islands where you can drift across the shimmering waters stopping off for a swim and a sunbathe at whichever cove takes your fancy. You’ll then drop anchor in Hvar for a wander along its cobbled streets and a bite to eat amid its laidback island attitude. You’ll then finally pull into the harbor at Korcula, where you’ll spend the next few days staying in the lap of luxury at Lesic Dimitri Palace.

In the morning, head out on a private tour of the island taking in the old world charm of the birthplace of Marco Polo and the alleged origin of the Silk Road. Make your way along the ramparts to the San Marko Cathedral and Museum of Icons before heading out to Zrnovo, one of the oldest settlements on the island, to meet the charming Marovic family in a visit to their unique eco-farm. After you’ve had your fill of homemade jam, olive oil and grappa, continue on through the villages, vineyards and olive groves to Lumbarda. Here, you can either flop down on what is considered to be the island’s most beautiful beach or pay a visit to the Bire family winery for a private wine tasting of their signature Grk grape. Or why not do both? You’re on vacation after all.

Delve into Dubrovnik

Your final stop in Croatia is its most iconic city; Dubrovnik. But before you rush there, stop off for a scenic tour of Peljesac Penisula, one of Croatia’s most famous wine growing regions. Here, you can visit the small family run winery of Frano Milos to sample some of the country’s finest organic wines, still made according to traditional methods. To complement the wine, you’ll then stop off at the famous bay of Ston for a private oyster farm tour with a local farmer. Sailing out to his own private island, you’ll set up camp for a few hours as he prepares the traditional dish of mussels alla buzzara. Deliciously simple and served in a spot you simply cannot beat, it certainly makes for a meal to remember.

In Dubrovnik, we’ll set you up with a private walking tour through the cobbled Old Town streets and along the iconic ramparts that ring the city and keep it back from the endless blues of the waters below. For the best views in town though, catch the funicular up to Srdj Hill and simply stop and stare. In the evening, tuck into some of the country’s freshest seafood overlooking the melting sun as it falls behind the Adriatic, before resting your weary head in your five-star boutique hotel.

A Montenegrin Oasis

After a few nights in Dubrovnik, you’ll then be whisked off to your final stop – and a whole other country – Montenegro. Passing through the beauty of Boka Bay, where mountains fall away to the sea and stopping off at Perast for a boat ride out to the islet of Our Lady of the Rock, you’ll soon see a whole other side to Adriatic life. Sit back in the gently rocking boat as your private guide regales you with local legends before returning to land to explore the UNESCO wonder of the Bay of Kotur.

Poised for further beauty, you’ll check in at the exceedingly luxurious converted 15th-century fortress that is Aman Sveti Stefan. Completely unspoilt and surrounded by panoramic views you can lie back and enjoy the serenity of the resort previously visited by the glamorous Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren. Spend a few days holed up by the idyllic clifftop pool and unwinding with a touch of Adriatic Rejuvenation in the spa whilst, come evening, the islet takes on a whole new kind of splendour as the skies are strewn with stars and beautiful dinners are laid out amid the shade of ancient cedars, fragrant pine forests and peaceful olive groves. It’s a blissful end to any getaway – and one you’ll never want to leave.
