French Polynesia
Le Taha’a
There is only one word to describe this luxury private island resort: paradise. At Le Taha’a you’ll hole up in the ultimate barefoot chic spot. Think white sandy shores leading to tropical lagoon waters, stunning views of surrounding Polynesian islands and sunsets melting into the horizon; it’s Tahitian bliss. Need we say more?
Location
The tiny islet of Motu Tautau is part of the French Polynesian archipelago in the heart of the Pacific Ocean. It’s just a short boat or helicopter hop away from the larger islands of Le Taha’a and the iconic Bora Bora where you’ll find plenty of Tahitian culture and history to explore. That is, if you can muster the strength to leave the idyll of your water-side bolthole. We reckon you’d be hard pushed to find more perfect isolation anywhere else.
Your room
There’s only one decision to be made when booking your luxury island getaway and that is whether to opt for an overwater bungalow or a luxury beachside hut. 45 Overwater Suites seemingly float above the crystal clear sea decked out in exotic woods, corals and Marquesan cloths. What better way to wash away the cobwebs in the morning than a quick dive into the turquoise lagoon off your private deck? For a little more space and an added touch of luxury (as if there wasn’t enough already) book a villa on the beach where you’ll get your own plunge pool and an outside bath and shower for star-lit evening soaks.
Why we love it
The food at Le Taha’a is taste bud-tinglingly good. We love the array of beautiful tropical fruits and traditional foods on offer as well as the weekly must-see fire dance performances. But a trip to paradise wouldn’t be complete without some pampering and the island spa doesn’t disappoint. It’s the massage in a bathtub of coconut milk overlooking the lagoon that really got us excited. Sublime.
