Taj Banjaar Tola, Kanha National Park
With 18 tented suites, Taj Banjaar Tola is an exclusive jungle lodge option deep inside India’s Kanha National Park. The comfortable, spacious suites are contemporary in style, with an organic, natural feel. Each suite has open-air sitting area overlooking the Banjaar River with panoramic views of the wilderness beyond: you may even spot some endangered hardwater barasingha, a swamp deer that thrives in Kanha. The restaurant serves delicious Indian meals, and the well-stocked library provides excellent reading material to enjoy by the pool.
Location
The Kanha National Park is in Madhya Pradesh, central India. Packed with wildlife, Kanha has tigers, leopards, wolves, wild boar and sambar to name a few: all this and just a five-hour drive from the cities of Jabalpur and Nagpur.
Your room
Each tented suite sits on a raised platform and is large, light and comfortable. The pressed bamboo floors and walls create a natural and earthy ambience, enhanced by the handcrafted timber furniture. Rich saffron and green colors compliment the soft bright silks that cover the huge cozy beds. Sit on your balcony after a day in the bush; watch the dusk fall over the river and revel in the glamorousness of modern Indian ‘camping’.
Why we like it
We love sipping ice-cold cocktails on the jungle-deck while we await the arrival of earthenware pots brimming with a deliciously authentic Indian dinner.
