JAWAI, Rajasthan
Searching for an Indian adventure to remember? JAWAI offers you just that. Arguably the best place to see leopards in India you’ll experience a safari unlike any other. Made up of just eight beautiful tents you’ll be able to relax amidst the stunning natural surroundings with beautiful wildlife for company. What more could you ask for?
Location
Nestled in the Aravalli hills in Rajasthan, this secluded tented camp is three hours drive from both Udaipur and Jodhpur. It’s the ideal base to explore the diverse landscape of JAWAI whether it’s on foot guided by a local red-turbaned Rabari herdsman or from the comfort of the camp’s jeep on a game drive. Situated by the shores of the Jawai River you’ll be treated to amazing birdlife including the flamingo, but if you want a cultural break then the Kumbalgarh Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is an hour away.
Your room
Canvas tents get a luxury upgrade at JAWAI with 1930s style monochrome interiors, impressive wildlife photographs and steel finishes. Each spacious air-conditioned tent has a sleek and stylish en-suite making it a haven from the Desert State’s heat. After a long day of intrepid exploring, you can kick up your feet on your private terrace and watch the sunset over the Indian countryside. For something that extra bit special, opt for the Royal Tented Suite and sink it to your own private pool in the heart of the wilderness.
Why we like it
Back to basics has never been so luxurious and we love that even in the middle of the wilderness a talented masseuse is there to ease away those aches and pains as you revel in the peaceful atmosphere of JAWAI. You won’t see animals and humans living side by side in many places which is what makes this camp special, not to mention the freedom to discover the area since it isn’t a national park.
