Tranquil Plantation Hideaway, Karnataka

With just nine rooms and suites including the signature Tree villa suite, Tranquil resort does exactly what it says on the tin. This boutique hotel is famed for its warm hospitality and stunning views. Victor and Jini Dey, the ever present owners, will instantly make you feel like a part of the family. The fiery Indian food cooked here is most certainly a highlight of any stay and we love ‘grandma’s secret recipes.’

Location

Set in the Wayanad Hills of Northern Kerala, this chic hideaway is nestled in the center of a 400 acre coffee and spice plantation. The hotel is easily accessed by road from both Calicut or Bangalore airports. And the ancient Jain temple, the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary and Edakkal Caves all lie just around the corner.

Your room

All of the bedrooms are individually decorated and fuse traditional Keralan designs with all the modern creature comforts. Thirty five feet above the forest floor, built around the Gul Mohr Tree, the Tree Villa suite is a spacious haven of tranquillity and elegance. Its two bedrooms and eight verandas offer ample space to relax and take in the stunning scenery. Deluxe rooms and junior suites are set in the main house – just a hop, skip and a jump to the swimming pool and bubbling jacuzzi.

Why we like it

Starting the morning with a cup of fresh, hand picked Arabica coffee before retiring to one of the hammocks suspended high above the forest canopy to catch a glimpse of wild life up close an personal is something you won’t get just anywhere.
