Mandranova, Sicily
Whilst staying at Mandranova it truly is possible to completely remove yourself from the hectic, busy world left behind at home. Perched on a stunning hillside in southwestern Sicily, the breathtaking verdant views of the resort’s olive groves stretching out in front of you, it’s easy to enjoy the secluded ambience. The rustically beautiful restored farmhouse accommodates 16 rooms of differing size, while the close by converted railway station and ‘palmento’ provide two villas for groups who prefer a more independent vacation style.
LOCATION
Mandranova’s off the beaten track location, just to the south of Agrigento, provides the perfect answer to escaping the tourist hordes while being close enough to visit the sites of the town. It is well placed to appreciate the culture Sicily has to offer. From here visit Sicily’s famous Valley of Temples by car and travel two and a half thousand years back in time. Two hours from Catania Airport and two and a half hours from Palermo Airport, the drive through the countryside is the ideal time to adapt to the secluded way of living you will soon be immersing yourself in.
YOUR ROOM
The interiors of the 16 rooms and two villas are designed to provide their guests with the sense of staying at a friend’s house rather than that of a mass-produced identical hotel room. The Frantoio suite, for example, is furnished with original family pieces across a cement and quartz floor, complemented by a warm Mediterranean color palette. All the accommodation has access to the swimming pool, a renovated stone irrigation tank overlooking the breath-taking landscapes. Just another innovative feature of Mandranova, updating the historic to the present days guest needs.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Whether it is through taking part in the daily cooking classes, the guided taste tours of their olive groves or simply enjoying the home-cooked meals using local produce, Mandranova brings the traditional Sicilian lifestyle to their present-day guests without losing any of its old age charm. The owners, Giuseppe and Silvia, have such a wonderful passion for living off the land it’s inspiring and infectious to even the most subwaypolitan city lovers.
