Rosewood Luang Prabang
Hidden amid lush jungle and coursed through by a meandering river, Rosewood Luang Prabang is a rare-to-find oasis where you truly feel that you’ve left the world behind. Just 23 rooms dot themselves along the riverbank, whilst a former elephant bridge doubles as a bar serving concoctions crafted with herbs from the property’s own organic garden. Add in Sense spa and discover a sanctuary you’ll never want to leave as you settle down with a local Hmong practitioner and feel your body gently reset. Pause, reflect – and relax.
Location
There’s something about Luang Prabang that has always enticed us. Sitting in the very heart of South East Asia, yet somehow immune from the crowds that swarm its neighbors, it has an idyllic nature to it that’s proved irresistible. A historic, UNESCO protected royal settlement whose name translates as the Land of a Million Elephants, Luang Prabang is rich in opportunities to discover. Explore the Mekong on a luxurious boat trip, take a heritage walk through the old town or visit a traditional weaving village. The Rosewood is just a 10-minute drive from the city and 25-minutes from the airport, meaning all this is on your doorstep.
Your Room
The 23 rooms at Rosewood Luang Prabang range between everything from Riverside Rooms and Suites, Waterfall Pool Villas and luxurious Hilltop Tents. All are beautifully designed from top to bottom in a fusion of Lao tradition and French style. In keeping with the jungled surroundings, rain showers sit outdoors whilst Waterfall Pool Villas feature huge wooden bathtubs and private pools. To really get close to nature though, the Hilltop Tents come hard to beat with their king-sized beds looking out over the mountains.
Why we like it
Everything about Rosewood Luang Prabang is so deeply immersed in Laotian culture that every moment of your experience feels truly authentic. No more so than when it comes to dinner. There is no pre-defined menu here, instead, chefs work with local farmers and spend time visiting the markets to create an ever-changing menu according to the day’s freshest ingredients. Making the most of an organic kitchen garden, the flavors are always fresh and packed full of personality.
