Bathed in light and decorated in white and cream tones, the grand neo-classical style lobby of the Four Seasons Macau makes quite a first impression. An imperial staircase rises upwards around imposing pillars to the rooms and suites above, whilst below guests lounge around on ornate armchairs listening to a pianist playing softly on a polished grand. But there is another side to the hotel hidden away down the hall in the ultra-modern Bar Azul. Dimly lit by blue lights and with a cracking cocktail menu, this is the place to come when you’re craving a little less old-school elegance.

location

Set in the Cotai area – a small stretch of land connecting the Taipa and Coloane islands, the hotel sits at the heart of Macau’s most happening areas. With a whole host of casinos, bars and clubs to sample, as well as a fair few stores to tempt you, this contemporary area is the spot to indulge. And for those fans of the bright lights and center stage, Cotai is where global productions such as Cirque de Soleil take place.

your room

Combining Oriental features with modern aesthetics, the rooms here are stylish, spacious and incredibly comfortable. Decorated with a light color palette and accented with splashes of gold and velvet, the interiors invite complete relaxation. Large marble bathrooms feature walk-in rain showers and a tub almost big enough to swim in…that is if you can’t decide between one of the hotel’s five pools.

why we like it

When it comes to picking our best bit about this hotel, it’s a close race between the delicious dim sum served up in the Cantonese restaurant Zi Yat Heen, and the long list of super-pampering treatments available in the hotel Spa. With incredible bespoke therapies like the Diamond Magnetic Jewel – which involves polishing the body with crushed diamonds – Spa menus don’t come much more extravagant than this.
