South Africa
&Beyond Kirkman’s Kamp, Sabi Sands
Once home to Harry Kirkman, &Beyond Kirkman’s Kamp harks back to a time of the intrepid African explorer, whilst offering the comforts of a modern safari. The relaxed and sociable routine of the lodge lends itself well to families, both human and animal, and wildlife roam freely around the lodge. You can spot the Big Five here, and the lodge is famed for leopard sightings in particular.
Location
Located in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, in the famous Kruger National Park, Kirkman’s Kamp will keep you at the heart of the action. The lodge sits amongst its own immaculate lawns whilst offering views of the unspoiled South African bush.
Your room
A formerly working 1920s Transvaal Lodge, you will feel like you have stepped back in time as soon as you arrive. The 18 suites each with their own spectacular views are charming and triples can be set up to accommodate younger children.
Why we like it
The atmosphere is quintessentially African and other-worldly. From the warthog that grazes on the croquet lawn to the antiques that fill the lodge. Whether at afternoon tea on the veranda or relaxing in the hotel’s pool you there are few places like this at which you will feel completely at home.
