Six Senses Ibiza

Celebrate Ibiza for all that it represents and immerse yourself in island life with a stay at Six Senses Ibiza. From its perch atop the cliffs of Cala Xarraca, there are front row seats onto both pioneering wellness techniques and renowned international dining. There’s also plenty of live music and access to a recording studio, should that be the tempo you crave. At the end of each day, hole up, quite literally, in one of the 116 rooms, some which are carved deep into the cliff face, and allow the panoramic views to transport you.

On the northern tip of the island, Cala Xarraca is blessed with a golden light and a relaxed, natural rhythm. Just a 55-minute drive from the airport, life here moves at a slower pace. Spend your days out at sea, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding, browsing the bohemian stores of San Juan or watching the sunset over Benirras Bay.

Your Room

Whether opening onto private Mediterranean courtyards or peering out from the cliff face, the 116 rooms, suites and townhouses of Six Senses Ibiza are united by a deep sense of privacy. The design is both light-filled and contemporary, with panoramic terraces and cavernous bathrooms. But it is also deeply respectful of local heritage with natural materials and warm hues of moss green and dusk pink that soothe the soul. There’s plenty of scope for innovation too, no more so than in the Cave Royale where a grand piano and full bar take center stage before giving way to a secret door and an adjoining recording studio. For those traveling with friends or family, the townhouses offer a space to call your own with private pools and gardens and plenty of space to entertain.

Why we like it

There is a pervading sense of wellbeing to every aspect of a stay at Six Senses Ibiza, but in a subtle way that still allows you to feel indulged. It starts with the yoga mats provided complimentary in each room, perfect for catching the early morning sun out on the terrace. It then continues through carefully crafted menus by celebrity chef Eyal Shani, with a focus on produce grown on the hotel’s own farm, and onto biodynamic wines and a juice bar. This wellness, needless to say, culminates in the spa where catacombs that double as treatment rooms offer everything from established massages to pioneering techniques. There are hangover cures and 528Hz facials that aid DNA repair, as well as full-blown wellness retreats that can shape your stay, should you wish them to.

Six Senses Ibiza’s sustainability efforts take center stage on their Santa Gertrudis farm where guests can help play a role in the farm to table journey. Plant, pick, or cook your ingredients and learn about sustainable practices as you go. The resort is also the first in the Balearic Islands to receive a BREEAM certification, acknowledging its sustainability efforts with a number of initiatives taken to minimize its ecological impact, whilst also maximising preservation of local flora and fauna. Renewable energy sources have so far allowed the resort to reduce its carbon emissions by 40% whilst natural botanicals and plastic free packaging are a feature throughout. There’s even a hedgehog sanctuary.
