Capella Bangkok
On the banks of the Chao Phraya River, Capella Bangkok invites you to discover a home from home in the heart of Asia’s most exciting city. Looking out from the floor to ceiling windows of each of the 101 rooms, suites and villas, you’ll be both immersed in the city whilst simultaneously cocooned in an unbreakable oasis of peaceful sophistication. Framed by lush tropical gardens, there’s an outdoor swimming pool (complete with BOGAFiT aqua yoga classes), a Michelin starred restaurant in the form of Cote by Mauro Colagreco and a calming spa offering traditional treatments. Tok Sen hammer massage anyone?
Location
The best addresses in Bangkok are found along the river and Capella is no exception. At an intersection of the Chao Phraya River and Charoen Krung Road, the city’s most historic, you are perfectly placed to explore. Do it by catching one of the complimentary shuttle boat services from the hotel pier to IconSiam or Taksin Skytrain station. The airport is just a 30 minute drive away too.
Your Room
With panoramic river views and private balconies and terraces to enjoy them from, it would be easy to spend all the time in your room simply looking out from it. That would be a mistake however, with the interiors delicately designed to create a home from home environment that instantly puts you at ease. For a real bolthole feeling, we loved the Verandah Suites with their private terraces, complete with a daybed and plunge pool overlooking the river. Private and incredibly romantic. Or, for those looking for even more space, you’ll find seven villas lining the riverbank. Each opens up onto a lush private garden that will leave you in disbelief as to your city center location.
Why we like it
Undoubtedly luxurious but our overriding impression of Capella Bangkok is that staying here is like staying with a good friend, a good friend who knows all the best spots in the city. On arrival, you’ll be introduced to your personal Culturalist. Capella’s take on a combined butler and concierge service, they are on hand to curate your stay night and day with insightful recommendations and around-the-clock service. They found us the city’s hottest late night bars, but also organized a meditation session with a Wat Suthi temple monk; it’s all about balance after all.
Sustainability
It’s not often that you’re confronted with a green fingered city hotel but Capella Bangkok is making strides to be as environmental as possible. To that end, in the garden you’ll find their kitchen greenhouse, supplying the hotel with organic herbs and vegetables. All grown without the interference of machinery or pesticides. Whether you find them in a bespoke cocktail at Stella, in a traditional family recipe at Phra Nakhon or in the products at Auriga Wellness, you’ll know that they haven’t traveled far. Cutting the distance further still, we’ll arrange a beautiful private dinner for you in the heart of the greenhouse.
