Begin the trip in London where your personal Black Tomato driver will meet you at the airport and whisk you off to the beautiful Beaumont Hotel for two nights. In the heart of Mayfair, London’s most Royal district with elegant architecture and some of London’s oldest stores, this is the perfect central location for exploring the capital with a private walking tour led by a Royal historian for a behind the scenes look at some of the most luxurious British brands and stores, such as historic Royal hatters Lock & Co and Paxton & Whitfield – the official cheese supplier to the Royal household. Having explored London on foot, take a trip on the Thames aboard a classic 1930’s boat the “Bluebird” taking you past The Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London before dropping you off at Cadogan Pier in Chelsea for a dinner cruise passing some of London’s most iconic buildings, with a delicious meal served on-board underneath the sparkling London skyline. This is truly one of the most unique ways to see London and a true favorite of ours.
Spend the following day in one of our favorite parts of London, enjoying the charm and sophistication of South Kensington and Knightsbridge. Spend the morning at the Victoria and Albert museum before enjoying the day with our friends at the South Kensington Club, one of London’s finest private members clubs. Likened to a veritable ‘country club’ in the heart of London, the club is inspired by a sense of wellness and adventure – so perfect a perfect match for all Black Tomato travelers. ‘To ease the jetlag, your first treatment will take place within your own Private Banya Suite. During the ‘initial ritual’ of your Russian Dance of Leaves parenia (banya treatment) you will enter the Private Banya Suite together, accompanied by your banschik (banya therapist) and a ‘banya micro-climate’ is created where the hot stones create an earthy heat. Next the banschik will take hold of his veniki (softened and heated whisks of birch and eucalyptus leaves) and will use a series of coordinated arm movements, to increase the flow of air and distribute the heat evenly around the room. Then it’s into an icy pool to enjoy the ‘cold interval’. Tried and tested by the Black Tomato team this is truly one of the most unique treatments in London and the perfect way to wrap up your time in the capital.Read more
Hit the road
The next morning, we’ll arrange for your classic car (Aston Martin V8/Jaguar E-type or similar) to be dropped off at The Beaumont for you to then embark on your London to Scotland journey, where your next stop is the beautiful city of Oxford a couple of nights at Le Manoir, famed for its culinary expertise and incredible produce sourced from the hotel’s gardens. You’ll join Raymond Blanc’s team for the ultimate cookery experience as you become “chef for the day” with his expert brigade and in the evening we’ll arrange theater tickets at an Oxford theater of your choice. Drive through the Cotswolds where you’ll spend the night at Lords of the Manor, one of the most beautifully set hotels in the UK and the perfect place to unwind, before continuing further north towards Rutland for a night at the beautiful Hambleton Hall, built in 1881 and a former hunting bolthole. Hambleton Hall is set on the 25 miles of shoreline of the Rutland Water Nature Reserve, one of our favorite spots to arrange sailing, fishing or just sitting back and watching the action. This area of ‘middle England’ is famed for its market towns, such as Oakham, Stamford and Uppingham and Melton Mowbray – where one of the best farmer’s markets, antiques markets and bric-a-brac markets pitches during the week. To ensure that you really make the most of the markets (and sample the best Melton pies, Stilton cheeses and hams) we’ll arrange a private guide one day during your stay,
Continuing north head into the Lake District in Cumbria to Cartel, an upmarket gourmet retreat, for a night’s stay at L’Enclume – Simon Rogan’s Michelin starred restaurant and hotel. A picnic awaits you to pack into your classic car to wind through all the lakes and find yourself the perfect picnic spot, or take your picnic aboard the 50-foot luxury motor yacht Mistress, yours for the day to enjoy privately for a cruise on Windermere’s waters. Just a short journey away and just 20 minutes from York your journey continues to the quaint and castle-toting North Yorkshire village of Helmsley where you’ll stay at the Faversham Arms, a homely Victorian built boutique hotel. We encourage you to to hide away from the urban bustle, ramble the majestic moors, or ensconce themselves for shooting season and where you’ll be based for two nights. After a day getting the boots muddy relax in the Verbena Spa and rest those weary muscles. Enjoy the aromatherapy, salt inhalation room, monsoon shower, ice cave, foot spas, outdoor hot tub and outdoor heated pool. A pretty impressive spa menu and a welcomed rest half way through your journey.
Crossing the border

Day times will be devoted to activity here and you’re certainly not short of options – we will arrange an itinerary each day to suit choosing from fly fishing, shooting, and archery, or immerse yourself in the sporting history of Gleneagles and take a golf lesson with their pro. Continue in your classic car through some of the most dramatic roads in the UK, passing through green valleys and roads lined with heather as you head towards Loch Ness – one of the most breath-taking journeys throughout the whole of Scotland. After a day of driving, your journey will finish in Oban, staying at the beautiful and majestic Inverlochy Castle for the night.
