Bishop’s Lodge, Auberge Resorts Collection, Santa Fe

On the fringes of the Santa Fe National Forest, Bishop’s Lodge is a celebration of the best of this desert town from one of its most iconic historic properties. Nature and culture come together here in a soul-soothing blend of luxury. It is a place to look both inward but also outward with a state of mindfulness found amid all this splendid wilderness. For moments of discovery, there is both sprawling nature (including an on-site trout habitat) and an artist-in-residence programme. For reflection, there’s open air meditation rituals and the sanctuary of Turquesa Healing Arts Studio. Whilst when looking to indulge, you need look no further than the refined southwestern cuisine served both at SkyFire as well as over open campfires on the day’s adventure.

Caught between the culture and wilderness of Santa Fe, Bishop’s Lodge is a soulful retreat that evokes authentic Southwestern charm. The grounds sprawl across 317 acres that invite exploration from all angles and are amplified by the extensive on-property stables. Whether novice or experienced rider, there is a trail to follow, whilst back at the Stables, there’s a chance to care for the horses and learn roping techniques. Just a short drive from downtown Santa Fe too, there’s plenty of local culture to embrace. Meanwhile, Santa Fe Regional Airport is just 15 minutes away whilst Albuquerque is an hour.

Your Room

Across the 317 acres, you’ll find just 100 guestrooms, suites and casitas. Whilst the 12-bed Bunkhouse is perfect for multigenerational families looking to connect, our favorites are the Kiva Suites. Sitting in secluded locations, they open up onto a sunrise best viewed from your private plunge pool by the warmth of the outdoor fireplace. All of the rooms are authentically Southwestern in design with exposed beams and rich, earthy textures throughout. There’s also a traditional kiva fireplace with extra warmth brought by bold Navajo patterns.

Why we like it

Slow and languid, a stay at Bishop’s Lodge, Auberge Resorts Collection, is designed to help you reconnect with what’s most important to you. Whether that’s by releasing creative inhibitions in open air art classes, tapping into the healing power of Mother Nature over a foraged facial or discovering scenic ridges on a family trail ride, one moment here is all it takes to feel your cares fade away.
