The Lodge at Blue Sky, Auberge Resorts Collection, Park City
Home to 3,500 acres of rolling Utah landscapes, crawled in old-growth forests, carved by the babbling Alexander Creek and crossed with endless hiking trails, The Lodge at Blue Sky, Auberge Resorts Collection invites you into the great outdoors. A luxury escape that takes its cue from the Wasatch Mountains that surround it, days here are for answering the call of the wild. Then, once you’ve helicoptered back from that late afternoon meditation session, open the doors to something spectacular. 46 suites embodying a sense of ‘modern nature’, a state of the art spa clinging to a precipice and innovative cuisine prepared with home-farmed ingredients, all do their bit to rejuvenate. All the better for getting you back out exploring the next day if you ask us.
Location
A quick 25-minute drive from Park City, The Lodge at Blue Sky is an ideal getaway come summer or winter. In summer, the landscapes surrounding the Lodge are yours to explore – be it by foot, horseback, bike or helicopter. Whilst in winter, there’s snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on property as well as the exclusive Ski Lounge over at Park City resort for those looking to hit the piste. Just over half an hour’s drive from Salt Lake City airport, you could fly in in the morning and find yourself fly-fishing for your lunch.
Your Room
The Lodge at Blue Sky is both strikingly contemporary yet seamlessly in tune with nature. The 46 rooms and suites benefit from high ceilings, from which windows extend down to the floor, in a move that echoes the expansiveness of your surroundings. Spaces themselves are dressed in neutral color schemes and feature modern furnishings offset by wood panelling accents and exposed brick walls – and stone hewn bathtubs in the case of the Peregrine Suite. Every room features a private terrace from which to admire the views, but these are stepped up by the addition of outdoor fireplaces in the family-friendly Earth Suites and porch swings and custom fly-fishing rods at the adults-only Creek Houses.
Why we like it
Over the course of a few days at The Lodge at Blue Sky, your feet hardly seem to touch the ground. We mean that both metaphorically and physically. There is an unspoken attitude here of ‘anything you can do – we can do with a helicopter’. Prefix heli to any of the following: hiking, fishing, biking, skiing, snowshoeing – even yoga and meditation and you have an amplified experience designed to connect you with a nature untouched by man. But that’s not to say it’s all fuel and no feel. Quite the opposite, in fact, there is a profound respect for the environment here. So much so that the many rescue horses that call the ranch home are given every Monday off to spend time with the in-house equine acupuncturist and chiropractor.
