Your coastal adventure begins in Portland, where you’ll head out with an expert guide on a winding road trip along the Oregon Coastal Highway. Overlooking the mighty Pacific Ocean, you’ll stop off at one of the state’s most iconic viewpoints at Ecola State Park where you can look out over the ocean as it crashes down on seven miles of deserted beaches below. From Ecola, you’ll continue south through Cannon Beach, where the distinctive Haystack Rock and Needles mark out the shoreline, and along the coast to where the road seemingly clings to Neahkahnie Mountain, before descending through Tillamook to the scenic Three Capes Loop, offering majestic views of some of Oregon’s most spectacular landscapes.
After kicking off the day with a real taste of the great American road trip, you’ll take a breather at Pacific City and Cape Kiwanda where you can choose between climbing atop mighty dunes for sweeping ocean views – or simply hole up in the Pelican Brewing Company with a refreshing local ale. From there you’ll continue to Salishan Spa & Golf Resort, a peaceful retreat surrounded by spectacular Oregon coastal forest and the tranquil Siletz Bay. Enjoy dinner that evening at the hotel where you can choose from a myriad of options including fine dining at Samphire or handmade pizzas at the Attic Lounge.
Natural Wonder
This morning, you’ll head out for a spot of natural wonder, courtesy of the animal kingdom. At Depoe Bay, you’ll explore the world’s smallest navigable harbor, where curio shops and a boardwalk perch precariously over the crashing surf, before heading out to sea in search of the massive grey whales that call the area home. Watch with awe as they flock to an extensive bench of offshore shallows before continuing onto Newport where rowdy sea lions vie for a coveted spot atop the floating docks near the city’s seafood vendors.
Wine in Willamette
On your final day, you’ll raise a glass to the Beaver State in the only way Oregon knows how – with a trip to the Willamette Valley. Famous for its crisp white wines and subtle pinot noirs, you’ll visit two of the region’s best wineries and indulge in tastings of some of their finest wines. Accompany those wines with a delicious lunch and it’s the perfect end to your Oregon discovery. Now, where to next?
