Mayflower Inn & Spa, Auberge Resorts Collection, Connecticut
In the heart of rural Litchfield County, Mayflower Inn & Spa, Auberge Resorts Collection, offers both a luxurious escape and a taste of the simple life. A grand country house framed by landscaped gardens, the 30 rooms and suites create an air of intimate exclusivity. Every detail offers pure refinement at Mayflower Inn, whether that’s the curated designs of the rooms, the perfectly balanced cuisine of the Dining Room or the unbroken harmony of the spa. A place to reset, set off on a picnic paddle across Mayflower Pond and feel the noise of daily life fade away.
Location
Slowing the pace right down to a halt, Mayflower Inn & Spa lies just a two-hour drive from New York City in neighboring Connecticut. Surrounded by 58 acres of manicured gardens and rambling woodland, it’s a true escape from the city. There’s plenty to entice you into the outdoors here, be it cycle rides along Lake Waramaug and naturalist hikes through the Litchfield Hills – or a guided tour along the Connecticut Antiques Trail with exclusive access to Mill House Antiques.
Your Room
With just 30 rooms and suites spread between the main house and three cottages, a stay at Mayflower Inn brings with it utmost privacy. Through vintage prints, artisan furnishings and heritage details, each room boasts its own distinct personality. United by statement four-poster beds and deep-soaking tubs, some also feature fireplaces and private balconies, perfect for that added sense of relaxation. If we had to pick a favorite though, it would have to be the Signature King Suite with its own mahogany wood-panelled library. Pick up a book, light the fire and snuggle down for the evening.
Why we like it
Whilst the nature that surrounds Mayflower Inn is certainly enticing, it’s what’s offered on property that keeps us coming back. The Spa is a veritable temple of calm with an all-white decor that looks out over a manicured lawn and a treatment list that fuses nature with science. Boasting an expansive relaxation room, private dining room and indoor pool, we could easily spend all day here. Just so long as we’re done in time for dinner that is. Dining at Mayflower Inn is always a pleasure, but no more so than on the first Tuesday of each month when two of our passions, art and cuisine, come together through Palette to Palate. Showcasing a different local artist’s works each month, sit down to a specially curated menu inspired by their work.
