Wandering the streets of Buenos Aires’ chic Recoleta neighborhood you’ll come across a grand white palace that wouldn’t look amiss in the heart of Paris or the Cote d’Azur. Forget the French aristocracy though and instead, step into the Palacio Duhau Park Hyatt. Gleaming with its opulent marble floors and chandeliers and boasting an in-house tailor, three restaurants and terraced garden there is no doubting Palacio Duhau’s level of luxury. Staying here will have you relaxing into a new found regal lifestyle with ease.
At Duhau you will be within walking distance of Eva Perón, literally, as Plaza Francia and the famous Recoleta cemetery where she is buried are only a few streets away. The neighborhood of Recoleta is the most affluent and glamorous of all of Buenos Aires’ barrios and is full of pretty parks, museums and art galleries for you to while away the hours in. It is a 40-minute drive to the hotel from Ezeiza International Airport and Jorge Newbery is only ten minutes away if you are planning to fly off to Mendoza, Patagonia or Iguazú for the weekend.
Fit for a Palace, the rooms at Palacio Duahu are spacious in size and modern and sleek in design with luxurious marble bathrooms and balconies overlooking the Apostolic Nunciature gardens, the Recoleta streets or the river. What really makes the rooms stand out, however, is the personal butler service that is available to all guests. You truly are waited on hand and foot here but for added opulence, head to the Duhau Suite or Alvear Suites where fireplaces, chandeliers and towering floor to ceiling windows draped in thick, silk curtains are the norm.
Why we like it
On first glance, Palacio Duhau is hugely lavish and sophisticated and yet the friendliness of the staff makes you feel right at home. Whether you are delighting in an afternoon tea at Los Salones del Piano Nobile, spoiling yourself with Argentinian steak at the fine-dining restaurant or indulging in a glass of Malbec in the wood-panelled Oak Bar, all settings make you feel completely at ease. After a day exploring the exciting and colorful city of Buenos Aires Palacio Duhau is a wonderfully comforting and peaceful place to rest your head.
