Location
Just over an hour’s drive from Cairns, tucked away in a secluded spot of the world’s oldest living rainforest, Silky Oaks Lodge is all about the lush, tropical setting on the Mossman River Gorge. You’ll feel a world away but close enough to day trips to, Cooya Beach and the Great Barrier Reef are only 12km away. A little further south and you will discover the charms of Port Douglas, with its boutiques, bars and restaurants.
Rooms
Dotted between the leafy trees, your tree-house will give you the full rainforest experience. Perched up in the greenery, the décor inside has been carefully chosen to instil a sense of calm, with soft greens fabrics and rich wooden furniture, allowing the views out across the trees to be the main feature. Sit out on your private balcony and listen to the sounds of nature with your morning coffee or evening drink; it’s a soothing start or finish to any day.
Why We Like It
The incredible rainforest setting holds the allure, so we urge you to explore it. Make use of the hotel’s river canoes or bikes to get around, take a guided tour of the area or play a spot of tennis on their court. If you’d rather sit in peaceful enjoyment, then book in for one of the yoga classes on offer.
