Fasano Hotel Rio de Janeiro
Charming and sophisticated the Fasano hotel was beautifully designed by French born Philippe Starck. With 1950s furniture and vintage uniforms the hotels harks back to the bossa nova era, the golden years of the Ipanema neighborhood in which the hotel resides. The 79 rooms and 10 suites boast stunning views across the beaches of Arpoador, Ipanema and Leblon, the Two Brothers Mountain and the Christ the Redeemer statue. Well located to see the sights of Rio and chill out on the beach, this really is a jewel in a brightly colored city.
Location
Situated on the Avenida Vieira Souto in the heart of Ipanema, this is a highly coveted address. Just 12.5km from Santos Dumont airport, the drive to the hotel is a leisurely 15 minutes along the coast. The main sights are all within easy reach as well; the historic town center is a 20 minute walk away and Christ the Redeemer is just five minutes away. If you don’t want to leave the hotel straight away, there’s always the infinity pool, with rooftop views, to lay back by and the spa to get some real relaxation in.
Your room
All the rooms and suites at the Fasano are absolutely top notch. All have balconies, wood floors and a king sized bed with Egyptian cotton sheets. With marble bathrooms to boot you won’t want to leave the high pressure shower. Each room features a bespoke ear-shaped mirror designed by Philippe Starck; inspired by Dali, the mirrors are known as the “ears that see”.
Why we like it
The Fasano hotel is home to three amazing restaurants. The Fasano al Mare, run by Chef Paolo Lavazzini from Florence holds 3 Michelin stars for its delicious Mediterranean cuisine. The Baretto-Londra is great for an up-beat evening in. Considered one of the best restaurants in the world by Wallpaper Magazine, it hosts live shows with famous DJs, combining rock and roll with a pub setting. Finally, if you just want a quick snack and a drink, the Lobby bar will be ready to fulfill your needs. There are fantastic restaurants in the surrounding area too, but you should definitely try these first.
