Nimmo Bay, British Columbia
Everybody wants to know the key to true happiness, and we’ll let you in on a secret – we’ve found it. Nimmo Bay. Cozying up in front of a log fire, wrapped in a blanket, hot toddy in hand, gazing out at the awe-inspiring beauty of the Great Bear Rainforest after an unforgettable day adventuring through a hidden paradise – what could be better? Hole up in one of the nine cabins from where you can gaze out over the snow-capped mountains, untouched forests, thriving rivers and majestic wildlife, there is no room for disappointment at this British Columbian gem.
Location
The remote Nimmo Bay can be found floating peacefully on the waters of the mesmerising Great Bear Rainforest on the coast of British Columbia. Accessible only by air or water (there are no roads in the area), this is a real escape to the wilderness where getting there is only part of the adventure. From Vancouver International Airport, it’s a one hour flight to Port Hardy from where it’s just a short 20 minute hop, on board either a helicopter or float plane.
Your room
With all the breathtaking scenery, you almost won’t want to come inside – but when you do, the cabins at Nimmo Bay are waiting, arms outstretched, ready to envelop you with cozy, yet spacious interiors. The nine cabins have been carefully designed with both the surrounding environment and guest comfort in mind and all have absolutely jaw dropping views of the bay or forest. At Nimmo Bay, it’s really about letting nature do the talking, and so whilst there is wifi – it’s limited, in the belief that the wilderness around you is far more exciting than anything on your phone.
Why we like it
Whenever we visit Nimmo Bay, it feels like coming home. At the heart of this beautiful retreat is family and a commitment to making memories. Whether those memories are made kayaking with humpback whales, fly fishing for wild salmon or even just having a quiet moment out on the deck with a cup of coffee, the team at Nimmo Bay do everything to exceed your expectations. At the end of your trip, they’ll even send you home with a selection of photos of your stay, to keep the memories alive until you return to make more.
