Ski 3 countries in the Northern Hemisphere

We asked our travel experts what their ultimate bucket-list ski experience would be, and decided that sometimes one country just simply isn’t enough. On this intrepid ski adventure we’ll take you to some of our team’s favorite slopes in the Northern Hemisphere, from The USA, Canada, and Japan. This eight night action-packed ski vacation will take you to some of the best ski spots and most luxurious resorts and lodges in the space of a week. Start off in the wilds of Wyoming at Amangani, which offers some of the best backcountry skiing in the US, where our experts will help map out some of the best ski runs for you in Jackson Hole. From the USA, we’ll fly you north over the border to Canada’s iconic Whistler resort for a few days of high-octane ski and après-ski from your base The Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Then, from Vancouver, you’ll fly to the Far East to experience ski culture in Japan’s Mt. Naeba resort that is renowned for having some of the best powder in the world.

Wilds of Wyoming

Your ski adventure starts off in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, at the luxurious,  ski-in ski-out Amangani lodge, which hidden out in the wild west means little queuing on the slopes. Jackson Hole’s valley enjoys some of the best skiing this side of the Atlantic. Off-piste skiing in ‘The Hole’ is the norm, but the resort has an ‘open-gate boundary policy’, which means you have unlimited access to a seemingly infinite range of slopes to fly down. Fall under the spell of the mighty Teton Range as you explore the rustic, winter backcountry by ski and glide through untouched snow as we map out some of our favorite ski zones around the area.

Winter in Whistler

Next, we’ll fly you from Jackson Hole 4 hours north to Vancouver, where you’ll be driven just under 2 hours to the world-class alpine resort of Whistler. The exquisite Fairmont Chateau Hotel defines absolute luxury and being ideally set at the foot of the Blackcomb Mountain, it offers the best ski-in ski-out access and spectacular views over the Rockies. With Whistler’s reliable snowfall, the award-winning resort boasts the best snow terrain in North America and with such a huge region to discover, the skiing is truly endless both on and off the piste. If you’re a freestyler, Whistler also prides itself on its 6 terrain parks with countless ski features and pipes where you can show off some of your best tricks. Trust us, you won’t find this much ski-dom anywhere else in the world.

Mount Naeba Magic

For your last stint after a crisp morning’s ski, we’ll whisk you 10 hours over the Pacific into Tokyo. Here you’ll jump on the speedy bullet train for 1.25 hours to the mountainous Echigo-Yuzawa station in time for a final 30 minute private transfer to the prestigious Naeba Prince Hotel. The stylish Naeba Prince is also directly connected to the slopes and offers an added bonus of authentic, natural hot springs to chill out in after your long week of intense skiing. High-end resorts Naeba and Kagura, connected by a gondola, boast a large proportion of Mt. Naeba where you can carve up some of the finest powder worldwide until your heart’s content. Naeba’s Asian twist with its modern vibe showcases a very different experience in ski culture from the Alps and the Rockies so dive into this new and exciting ski landscape headfirst. Come lunchtime and you’ll be warming up over a bowl of ramen at 3,000+ ft.

After a final 2 full days frolicking on the slopes, you’ll be returning to Tokyo in style with some much-needed first-class seats aboard the bullet train. This ski trip is fast-paced and jam-packed, but for you ski fanatics, we are certain the adrenaline to experience this whole range of ski culture will keep you gripping on for more.
