Location
The intimate Awasi is located in the heart of the Atacama Desert, just outside the town of San Pedro de Atacama. The location is visually spectacular, featuring salt flats, valleys for hiking, geothermal pools, and active volcanoes, there is somewhere for everyone to explore. Only a short hour drive from El Loa International airport, you’ll be relaxing by the pool in no time. Once you’ve explored the terrain, head to the town for a less adventurous rest day. The plaza, church and museum are all worth paying a visit to.
Your Room
Designed to reflect the nature of the desert, Awasi Atacama’s rooms are traditionally furnished and also feature large bathrooms with outdoor showers. Own branded restroomries such as lemon-mint lip balm are included, to protect you from the elements. Guest’s privacy is important to Awasi – every room has its own private patio, so after a day in the desert you can settle down on the open air patio with a glass of Chilean wine.
Why we like it
At Awasi Atacama, guests are spoiled rotten with a level of personal service that places Awasi in a league above anywhere else. As well as a beautiful space to rest your head, your suite also includes your own multilingual guide and a 4×4 vehicle for private excursions. So put your feet up by one of the open fires – and relax. The chefs also exceed expectations with locally influenced dishes and staples like Patasca, a stew with meat and vegetables and Chañar (a sweet fruit from the Chilean Chañar tree).
Sustainability
Awasi has tackled climate change head on by officially becoming carbon neutral. Over 1,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide are absorbed from the atmosphere annually by the forests that Awasi protects. Speak to our Travel Experts to find out more.
