From the temples of Java to the beaches of Lombok, and the rice paddies of Bali this is one adventure you will never forget.
Ancient history in Java
So, where do you start? We can tailor make any trip to this tropical paradise, but our current favorite starts on the ruggedly beautiful island of Java. We reckon it’s one of the most peaceful spots around; perfectly combining stunning landscapes with a pinch of ancient history and big dose of culture. Rest up at Amanjiwo where you’ll uncover the calm serenity of this beautiful island. Get up early and grab a private guide, who will share the history and secrets of Borobudur temple as you climb to the top in time to witness the sun rising over the volcanoes in the distance. Watching the deep colors melt into streams of sunlight as the morning mist blankets the valley below is a truly awe-inspiring experience. Following your private viewing of the temple complex, saddle up and ride through the surrounding local villages on horseback, watching local life slowly stir from its slumber.
Peace and tranquility
Next, your quest for total relaxation with take you to Lombok and the picture-perfect beaches of Medana. Lombok is a treasure trove of ancient cultures and forgotten legends and is well and truly off the beaten path – an island just beginning to be explored. Comprising just nine stylish suites, Lombok Lodge is a nirvana of peace and tranquillity and is the place to unwind beside the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. Your ocean view bolthole features chic modern lines complemented by elegant Asian touches, and lead out onto soothing outdoor showers. The beaches of Medana are considered some of the best in Indonesia and we’ll make sure you’ve got plenty of time to take full advantage of them – but to spice things up a little, take a day trip to the unspoilt Gili Islands. With world-renowned diving and some of the planet’s most beautiful beaches, simply sit back and soak up the rays on these carefree islands.
A journey of discovery
Next, to Bali and Uluwatu for a few nights holed up at the Alila. This stunning cliff top retreat stands guard over the beaches of southern Bali, looking out to the warm Indian Ocean. Having settled in (and perhaps enjoyed the odd spa treatment or two) head to Uluwatu Temple, an iconic landmark that really does represent that quintessential image of Indonesia. Spend the next few days soaking in the incredible scenery and exploring the lesser known nooks of Uluwatu.
