Step inside 142 contemporary-chic guestrooms and suites and look out over tropical views framed by sophisticated surroundings as you relax into island life. Days here are spent exploring a vibrant island playground as you dive beneath the surface to discover vibrant corals. Whilst, if relaxation is the order of the day, pristine beaches, sun-drenched poolsides and an all-encompassing spa await. Come evening, indulge your tastebuds with some of the finest cuisine in the Indian Ocean before savoring a quick nightcap beneath the stars.
Location
At the northern end of Mauritius’s renowned Belle Mare coastline on its own private peninsula, One&Only Le Saint Géran boasts one of the island’s most enviable addresses. From the airport, it’s a 60-minute meander by road through the island’s tropical interior – or, if the pull of the ocean is too strong – a swift 15-minute helicopter flight. Brimming with culture and natural beauty, it’s little wonder Mark Twain regarded Mauritius as the template for heaven.
Your Room
Attuned to their tropical surroundings, each of the 142 rooms and suites embrace the concept of indoor-outdoor living. All rooms feature either a private terrace or balcony with beachfront rooms and suites also giving way to direct beach access. A coastal thread runs through the decor with pale shades of sand punctuated by pastel blues and turquoises. We loved the extra space the suites afforded, with the choice of one to three bedrooms perfect for families, plus signature One&Only butler service. For extra exclusivity though, it has to be Villa One; a supremely private estate with its own pool and exclusive stretch of beach. You’ll feel that you have the island all to yourself.
Why we like it
Born out of a rich history that has seen the island change hands many times over the years, Mauritius boasts one of the most exciting cuisines in the Indian Ocean, with One&Only Le Saint Géran at the forefront. You’ll find five restaurants to choose from here. Ranging from exciting fusion at Tapasake to romantic French-Creole at La Terrasse and indulgent surf and turf at Prime, there’s a restaurant for every mood. Even if you just want to pick up a picnic and go, that’s possible too courtesy of L’Artisan. But it’s the private dining where Le Saint Géran really steals the show. We loved the One Bonfire experience where the day begins with a gourmet breakfast served onboard a luxury speedboat before a day of deep-sea fishing, followed by massages onboard before returning to cook your catch over a beach bonfire.
