Morocco
Caravan by Habitas Agafay
The second of its kind, Caravan by Habitas Agafay is a dazzling tented camp in the heart of Morocco’s Agafay Desert. Between the rocky dunes of the Agafay, you’ll step into your own desert oasis, following trails lined with lanterns and olive trees to reach your private tent or lodge. With Berber lounge areas, swimming pools, and an organic vegetable garden, you’ll spend your time relaxing beneath starlit skies, dining in the open-air restaurant, and exploring the surrounding dunes and eucalyptus forests by e-bike.
LOCATION
Hidden away between the dunes of the desert, Caravan by Habitas Agafay is a 40-minute drive from Marrakech. Leaving the hustle and bustle of Morocco’s capital behind, you’ll watch as the landscapes transform from pastel-pink buildings to rocky dunes and lunar landscapes, all framed by the distant Atlas Mountains.
YOUR ROOM
Sprawled across the landscape, each of the camp’s luxurious tents and lodges features artisanal design touches, private outdoor Berber lounging areas, and sweeping views. With king-size beds, sliding glass doors that open onto your private deck, and ensuite eco-bathrooms fitted with rainfall showers, this is the perfect place to relax and embrace the natural elements of the Agafay Desert.
WHY WE LIKE IT
One of our favorite elements of Caravan by Habitas Agafay is its open-air restaurant, Olivar. Warmed by outdoor heaters and decorated with woven mats and lattice lanterns, here you’ll share stories beneath starlit skies and enjoy traditional Moroccan music performed by local singers and musicians. Soaking it all in, you’ll dine on dishes piled high with vegetable couscous, spice-filled tagine, eggplant pastilla, and roasted lamb.
SUSTAINABILITY
At Caravan by Habitas Agafay, the camp’s luxury tents feature solar-powered lighting and fresh ingredients are grown in the camp’s organic vegetable garden. On a broader level, Habitas also aims to help protect the environment by participating in carbon offsetting initiatives, eliminating single-use plastic from their “Homes”, and supporting local communities through their Habitas RISE Fund.
