Land of the Gurkhas, shaggy-coated yaks and some of the most incredible mountain scenery in the world, Nepal is anything but your average vacation destination. For a country covering 147181 sq. km there is a fantastic diversity of culture, scenery and wildlife which is perfectly complemented by the friendliness of its people. For this nine-day adventure, our team of experts have hand-picked the very best of Nepal’s national parks, lakes and mountains that will take you deep into a world of adventure, sublime serenity and raw natural beauty that few have experienced.

A culture hit in Kathmandu

Touchdown in the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu and prepare yourself for sensory overload as you spend your first day in Nepal exploring medieval temples, narrow alleyways and sampling spicy dals. Devastated by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in 2015, both Kathmandu and your boutique hotel, Dwarika’s, have been on a mission to rebuild the city. The devastation is no more evident than in a privately guided trip to the ancient city of Patan where, despite the loss of some of the country’s finest palaces and temples, the soul of the city is stronger than ever, with a stroll beyond Durbar Square revealing some surviving gems. Get a good night’s sleep tonight. tomorrow, it’s time to start your adventure with a 6 hour drive to Chitwan, home to Nepal’s first national park.

Jungle activities in Chitwan

You will arrive in Chitwan in time for lunch at Meghauli Serai, a Taj Safari Lodge and your home for the next two nights. Perched on the edge of the Rapti River and Chitwan National Park, Meghauli Serai is the perfect base from which to experience the wild forests and exotic wildlife of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The majority of your time in Chitwan will be spent in the jungle taking part in various outdoor activities and wildlife spotting. When it comes to food, you’re in for a treat; Serai Meghauli offers a unique dining experience. Whether it’s bush dinners around the campfire or sun-downers in the wilderness, every meal here is a celebration of the great outdoors. After an active 2 days in the jungle, it’s time to move on to your next destination, a six-hour drive to the lakeside town of Pokhara and the third biggest city in Nepal, stopping on the way at Trishuli River where you’ll enjoy an adrenaline-fuelled white water rafting adventure surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Hiking in Pokhara

Pokhara is a place of remarkable natural beauty and the town is well known for its dramatic mountain scenery and beautiful lakes, most notably Lake Fewa. The serenity of the lakes and the magnificence of the Himalayas create a charm and atmosphere that has made Pokhara a popular place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. During your time in Pokhara, you will be staying at Tiger Mountain Lodge, a peaceful retreat perched 1,000 feet above the Pokhara Valley. Tiger Mountain Lodge is part of a select group of some of the world’s most special experiences and we can see why. The hotel offers spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayas and is an ideal base for hiking, exploring local communities or just relaxing in a typical Nepalese rural setting. After some well-deserved rest, your first full day in Pokhara will start early watching the sun rise, before an active morning of hiking. The rest of the day will be spent on a sightseeing tour of Pokhara City visiting all the top sites from Devi’s Fall Waterfall to the buzzing Old Bazaar, from Gupteshwor Cave to the white-domed Bindhyabasini Temple; there is so much to see and do here. The day will end with an evening walking tour around the resort and a stunning view of the sunset from the top of the hotel.

Dhulikhel dreams

For one last stop on your majestic trip across Nepal, we’ll whisk you across to Dhulikhel at an altitude of 5,500 ft above sea level. The city offers a complete panoramic view of the snow-capped ranges from Karyolung in the east to Himalchuli in the west. For the last few nights you’ll hole up at the charming Dwarika’s Resort from where you’ll be able to take a few last treks to visit numerous temples, traditional houses, and art and culture as well as spend some time reflecting on this incredible experience with a spot of meditation or yoga before flying home.
