Inkaterra Machu Picchu, Peru

Explore Peru’s Inca charms and the legendary Machu Picchu at the eco-friendly Inkaterra Machu Picch hotel, featuring 85 rooms and hidden deep in the lush Peruvian Cloud Forest. By using colonial-inspired exteriors and an array of locally-sourced wood throughout, the Inkaterra Machu Picch is authentic and allows for a harmonious and romantic balance between the jungle and hotel, yet still showcasing first-class comfort. Immersed in the rich mountain rainforest and sat in prime location to explore the ancient Inca wonder of Machu Picchu, the Inkaterra boasts the ideal nature and culture hub.

Location

Secluded on the outskirts of the highland village of Aguas Calientes, this beautiful bolt-hole is reachable by a scenic four hour train journey from Cusco or an hour and a half train from the Inca town of old Ollantaytambo. Wind along the world-famous Inca trail as you discover the magical Machu Picchu citadel, the Temple of the Moon and other majestic archaeological remains, where you’ll be enchanted by this age-old, sacred land.

Your Room

From cozy casitas, sumptuous suites and royal villa retreats, the Inkaterra Machu Picch elegantly showcases an authentic, Andean style with terracotta-tiled roofs built by local artisans. Interiors exude a truly tranquil and relaxed feel amidst this jungle gem and are embellished with typical Peruvian and colonial features, such as the traditionally bright alpaca-wool blankets for those colder winter nights. Most rooms boast log-burners and terraces with plunge pools so sit back and absorb the beautiful birdlife and gardens as you’re soothed by the sounds of the hummingbirds.

Why we like it

Our highlight is the hotel’s Inca Trail tour as you take an enthralling step back over 500 years through Machu Picchu. We also love the Orchid Trail as the region plays host to the largest private collection of orchids worldwide, as well as the excursion to see the rare South American Spectacled bear. Return to the glass-walled Dining Room for delicious Andean culinary delights, whilst overlooking the Urubamba River.
