For a truly South African experience, we’ll start you off in Cape Town, the city where stunning scenery meets a vibrant culture and hip beach vibes. From the airport we’ll whisk you off to your cliffside abode for the next three nights- Tintswalo Atlantic, teetering on the edge of Chapman’s Peak overlooking the azure waters of Hout Bay. From here you’re in the prime spot to explore the wonders of Cape Town and its surrounding natural bounty.

Head back to your hotel for dinner on the deck with a quintessential Capetonisundownerner, for one of the best sunsets you’ll ever lay your eyes on. No visit to Cape Town would be complete without a trip up Table Mountain for 360 degree views of the city and surrounds and if you’re feeling especially adventurous why not abseil down? Soak up the sights of the city by perusing along the stylish antique stores of Long Street, before settling down for a decadent Cape Malay dinner as you watch the city come to life after hours.
Meerkats, caves and crocs
Bid farewell to the coast as you drive inland towards Oudtshroon in the heart of the Klein Karoo; South Africa’s own outback where the imposing Swartberg Mountains loom over the vast landscape that’s dotted with eccentric towns. Spend the next two nights in the blissful milieus of nature on the shores of the lake at Zeekoe Lodge. Take your own dugout canoe for a spin round the lake, or come face to face with South Africa’s friendly critters – the meerkat.
The nearby Cango Caves are Africa’s largest subway cave network and in our opinion are certainly worth delving into. Once you’ve surveyed the drip-stone caverns and moonlike formations it’s time to dive with the crocodiles (yes that’s right, crocodiles). Wow in awe as you’re submerged in a protective cage as you amaze at the massive reptiles as they pass you by.
In the thick of it
Finish off your adventure at the Samara Game Reserve for a quintessential bush safari. Spend a few days exploring the surrounds with game drives through the park, or get up close to nature with guided bush walks the best way to see the wildlife. For those with a penchant for conservation, the park offers tours where you can volunteer, spending the day with the park’s conservationists, learning a thing or two about the natural environment. Our favorite thing about this landscape has to be the star-spangled night sky that illuminates the surrounding bush. With a knowledgeable guide in tow and armed with an astrology book, do a little star gazing for a truly spellbinding way to end your trip.
