Mandarin Oriental Hotel Ritz, Madrid
Grand, opulent and elegant, Madrid’s very own Hotel Ritz is a majestic masterpiece both inside and out, and features 167 rooms. With an old-world style, showcasing marble stone and impressive columns supporting tall ceilings, adorned with long draped curtains, elaborate wall design and chandeliers, you’ll feel like you’ve entered a royal palace. Being ideally nestled in the heart of Madrid, the Hotel Ritz is your urban haven within easy reach of all city highlights, so soak up some Spanish culture right from your front door.
Location
Opened in the early 20th century by King Alfonso XIII, the Hotel Ritz sits regally on the Plaza de la Lealtad in the center of Madrid, just 20 minutes’ drive from the Madrid-Barajas airport. Thanks to its rich and diverse history, from the early Romans to the later conquest by the Spanish, Madrid guarantees a wealth of culture with a wide scope of sightseeing opportunities. Naturally therefore, this cosmopolitan, yet historic hub offers an abundance of museums, galleries and churches, coupled with authentic restaurants and a dynamic bar scene, so your Madrid experience is endless both during the day and the night – make sure to visit the nearby Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum for the most iconic paintings of old and new.
Your Room
Whether cozying up in your classic room or resting up in your royal suite, the Hotel Ritz endeavours to create a truly regal feel with its splendid, intricately embellished interior décor, from its hand-made carpets to its fine antique furniture. Equipped with all mod cons, rooms are comfortable and spacious with stunning marble bathrooms, whilst suites showcase stylish sitting rooms with exquisite vistas over the gardens or square. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, a butler service is also readily available.
Why we like it
Arguably one of the best restaurants in Madrid, the Hotel Ritz’s Goya Restaurant provides high-end Mediterranean and traditionally Spanish cuisine within a sophisticated, yet relaxed atmosphere – we loved the Risotto with ‘Estivium’ Truffle. Both the Lobby Bar and the Velazquez Bar are charming venues for you to enjoy the rest of the evening, so sample the best sangria whilst listening to the melodies of the hotel’s very own harpist.
