Location

Lying along Sri Lanka’s southern coast, with only Antarctica beyond it, The Last House is sandwiched neatly between Galle and Yala National Park. 10 minutes from Tangalle and two-hours from Galle, travel wide or stay at home on your stay. One experience that you simply can’t miss, however, happens to lie just off your doorstep. The south coast is a whale watching hotspot with blue whales and sperm whales both regular passersby.

Your Rooms

Each of the six rooms at The Last House showcases their own unique personality, with names such as Atteriya and Moonamal. Fresh white walls and polished floors serve as a backdrop to antique furnishings such as netted four-poster beds, whilst splashes of bright color bring that signature Bawa touch. Downstairs bedrooms open up onto the gardens whilst the expansive Cinnamon Hill suite upstairs looks out over the vastness of the Indian Ocean with a gentle breeze drifting in through the shutters.

Whether you’re looking to relax on the coast, experience the local culture or get up close with wildlife, The Last House offers a base for it all. If you prefer staying in, beach games, bikes, surfboards and a croquet set are all on hand to keep you entertained. Whilst if you’re looking to explore the Big Blue, The Last House also has its own small fishing boat in which you can head out to sea and drop a line. Beyond that, the leopards of Yala, the rock temple of Mulkirigala and the fortress of Galle are all just a day trip away.
