Grapevine is a charming little town situated directly between Dallas and Fort Worth. It exudes an unmistakable small town, true American feel and as such, is a great place to visit for an insight into Texan culture. Now, you can probably guess what the main attraction of this town is beyond the homely feel (the clue is in the name…). Yep, that’s right, wine. In recent years, vineyards have sprung up in their masses and the area has been consistently producing high quality wines (and great business opportunities for the district) ever since.
Just half an hour North-West from Dallas, wineries here come in all shapes and sizes: some are in the heart of Grapevine’s historic district and others reside in secluded spots, standing against backdrops of stunning scenery. A visit here will allow you to embark on an incredible wine fuelled tour and as each winery has its own character, not only are you spoilt for choice, but you’re guaranteed to appreciate the individual stamp each one puts into the production of its wines.
If learning about Grapevine’s wines and having a set plan tickles your fancy, there’s a variety of wine tours you can book on to that will see you transported from winery to winery (all you’ve got to do is taste the delicious wines on offer). If you’re looking to experience the stereotypically dimly lit, exposed brick wine cellar, Delaney Vineyards and Winery will hit the spot. The grand looking venue on this estate comes complete with barrels for tables and has an endless stretch of vineyard at its feet. Alternatively, there’s an extreme dose of sophistication up for grabs at boutique winery D’Vine Wines in downtown Grapevine. Here you’ll have the opportunity to make your own wine, complete with a customized label. We’ve also got a bit of a soft spot for La Buena Vida Vineyards in all its romance and grandeur. Imagine Spanish tile fountains in the courtyard, stone pillars surrounded by a picturesque landscape and fairy lights entwined in the trees. Sounds like a fairy-tale, right? Here you’ll listen to live music as you sip on your Merlot and feel yourself transported to the Mediterranean by your surroundings.
Grapevine is easy to reach and an ideal stop off on your way in or out of the city so there’s no excuse not to discover for yourself what this great little town has to offer. Go on, treat yourself and your palette.
