Toronto’s culinary scene has exploded onto the world stage over the past decade, and is a force to be reckoned with. Influenced by the rich array of cultures that call this city home, as well as an influx of decorated chefs and passionate mixologists from around Canada and the world; you’ll find eating and drinking in Toronto is a true pleasure. Find yourself a little overwhelmed by the vast choice on offer? Never fear, we’ve selected some of our favorite restaurants and bars for you to try. Take note.
At the heart of the King West District lies Brassaii, a stylish celebrity haunt and the toast of the city. The Mediterranean inspired food will certainly fill a hole, but it’s the cocktails that we come for; each a Toronto twist on an old classic. Fade to Blackberry, infused with Niagra icewine vinegar was an education and a delight.
The One Eighty
The One Eighty was voted as having the best view of the city, and we daresay that counts for inside and out. Brass fittings and masculine tiling adorn the bar, which is host to an extensive cocktail menu. Seasonal drinks are available throughout the year, as is the delectable raspberry scented One Eighty Spritz.
Often mentioned as the best restaurant in Toronto, make sure you leave plenty of room before coming here. The exquisite plates and sensational tasting menus suit the most discerning palates. The décor is classic with some very modern features, much like the food. We were stunned by the black cod with roasted beets that looked just as good as it tasted.
A firm establishment on the Toronto foodie scene, Scaramouche is sophisticated and delightful. Modern-Canadian is the fayre here and whether gorging on fresh sea scallops or sampling their specialty pastas, we’re sure that you’ll be begging us to book your next visit before you’ve even left.
Prepare to be transported back to the days on the frontier. Boralia serves up rugged Canadian food at its finest. Sweetbreads and peas, pan-roasted venison and pigeon pie can all be found on this macho menu. For a historical culinary journey of Canada, this is best you can get.
