As a Global Travel Advisor at Black Tomato, it’s my job to start a conversation about where in the world you’d like to travel; helping to inspire you about the kinds of things you can see, feel, and experience once you go out into the world.
Think of me as a navigator who’ll help you chart the very first steps of your Black Tomato journey. After we share this initial (and wide-ranging) conversation, I’ll be perfectly placed to hand you over to one of our worldly Travel Experts. It’s their job – drawing on years of on-the ground, specialist knowledge about your destination – to curate your tailor-made trip.
Coming from a family of ardent sailors, I spent a huge part of my childhood on boats; exploring the length and breadth of the European coast by sail and sea. As a very curious child, there was no better way to learn about new countries and cultures. It was as simple as dropping the anchor and heading inland.
Today, I get a huge kick out of helping our travelers to pursue their own curiosity – weighing anchor (literally or not) in all kinds of places, both familiar and new. So let’s have a chat. We’ll roll out the maps and chart a course together.
"It's the little, unexpected moments that really stand out"
A closer look at GreeceDuring a family expedition to Greece, we sailed the Saronic sea aboard a small yacht (helmed by my dad). While we plotted our course well in advance, I learnt that sometimes it’s the little, unexpected moments that really stand out.
We were eating at a small restaurant in one of the tiny ports, skewering olives and dipping flatbreads into olive oil. My dad remarked how delicious the bread was and asked our waiter how it was made. Two minutes later, we found ourselves in the restaurant’s kitchen; listening to our waiter (and as it turned out, chef) who taught us how to bake the bread for ourselves. The recipe sailed its way back home with us and is now a firm family favorite.
