Working at Black Tomato brings a lot of things together for me. My study of psychology at Boston College – where I learnt how people connect, grow, and interact; my desire to work with great people; the importance I place in remaining thoughtful, no matter the project I’m working on, or the person I’m talking to.
As an Operations Expert, I work behind the scenes; making sure that no detail slips through the cracks, combing through your tailored itineraries with an eye to even the tiniest thing. I won’t hide the fact that I get a lot of pleasure from seeing the remarkable trips you’re taking with us.
Outside of work, I’m happiest when I’m near – or in – the water. I chalk this down to studying abroad in Sydney, where I really deepened my connection to the ocean, surrounded by all that color and calm. It’ll come as no surprise that my dream is to swim with orcas in the wild.
'It captured everything I love about travel'
A closer look at IndiaLast February, my mom and I spent an unforgettable week in India; exploring New Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra. And it was a moment in Jaipur that has truly stayed with me.
We stayed at Dera Amer, an ethical elephant sanctuary where we walked, fed, and bathed the elephants, and shared dinners under the stars by the fire. One afternoon, I went for a swim in the pool: a crisp, 70-degree day, the water freezing but refreshing. Everything was still except for the sound of birds and rustling leaves. Suddenly, through the trees, I saw an elephant emerge, moving slowly and silently until she reached the pool and began to drink from it. For a few minutes, it was just the two of us: me floating quietly in the water, and her drinking just a few feet away. You could hear her deep breaths, the water dripping from her trunk, the faint crunch of twigs underfoot. It was such a simple, tender moment, yet it captured everything I love about travel: the sense of connection, wonder, and peace that comes when you least expect it.
