Waldorf Astoria, Shanghai
Conveniently located right on the Bund, the Waldorf Astoria is comprised of two buildings, one being the old Shanghai Club, a restored heritage building, and the other a newly constructed tower of modernity. For a traditional feel and a taste of old Shanghai, we’d recommend you stay in the old part of the hotel and bask in the beautifully renovated rooms that are reminiscent of a time long past. Either way, all guests can make use of the facilities, bars and restaurants in both parts of the hotel, so you’ll never experience anything less than absolute luxury.
Location
Located right on the Bund, there really isn’t a better position for a hotel to be in Shanghai. Stretching one mile along the bank of the Huangpu River, the Bund is often considered the heart and international symbol of the city and is dotted with architectural marvels of a 1920’s style. It’s a great place to be, and what’s best is that there’s plenty to do and see within a few steps of leaving your hotel.
Your Room
The suites in The Waldorf have a charming and light colonial décor with beautiful dark mahogany furniture and beautiful views over the Pudong skyline and the Huangpu River. You’re sure to feel like royalty in these spacious rooms that boast walk in closets, a four poster bed, marble bathrooms and complimentary WiFi. It’s the perfect blend of old and new with a touch of class and luxury.
Why we like it
As well as its fantastic position, we loved that the style of this hotel has you transported back to the glamor of the old Shanghai, executing a perfect blend of heritage and modern luxury. During your stay here you have to have a drink in the famous Long Bar, the oldest in the city and a tribute to the infamous Shanghai Club of the building’s past.
