Austvågøy Lofoten Apartments
Austvågøy Lofoten Apartments are our new favorite base for exploring this incredibly unique Norwegian archipelago. On a clear day, look out your window and you’ll see the Lofoten Wall in its entirety, as well as the whole island chain stretching for miles and miles out to sea. From whale watching in the land of the midnight sun to snorkelling at nearby floating villages, this is the perfect Scandinavian adventure.
Location
The journey to Austvågøy island is as adventurous as the destination itself. We’ll have you squeezing through the narrow entrance to Hopsfjorden Bay to reach an isolated spot where you’re more likely to see Sea Eagles soaring overhead than people wandering past. Sitting snugly in the village of Hopen, an historical fishing hub, the apartment is just an hour by car from Leknes Regional Airport.
Your room
This spacious and luxurious loft apartment has two master bedrooms, as well as two mezzanines that are perfect for kids. The simplistic design allows your surroundings to do the talking, whilst little touches, such as a Ship’s Wheel on the wall, remind you of the town’s maritime traditions. The apartment may be fully equipped with a kitchen, but that doesn’t mean you have to lift a finger. You’re on vacation after all. Simply sit back and let your private chef do all the leg work while you settle into that huge sofa and admire the view.
Why we like it
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, the Lofoten Islands are utterly unique. Not only are they blessed with beautiful scenery and a unique climate, but the area is also jam-packed with things to do and see. One of our favorite days out lies just less than half an hour’s drive away. The nearby village of Henningsvaer is a spectacle in itself as it sprawls across several small islands, connected by a network of bridges and winding tunnels. Simply admire the classic fishing architecture here, or have a go at snorkelling and diving in these pure waters.
