Bairro Alto Hotel, Lisbon
Step into Bairro Alto Hotel and take a moment to feel the energy of this city pulsating around you. A love letter to Lisbon, the hotel has been meticulously designed to bring together both its bohemian flair and cosmopolitan charm. The décor is full of bold colors and retro-inspired lines and easily holds its own against the azulejos that line the street, whilst up on the rooftop, the terrace of Nuno Mendes’s BAHR establishes itself as the city’s most stylish miradouro.
Location
Caught between cosmopolitan Chiado and bohemian Bairro Alto, the hotel is a melting pot of Lisbon’s diverging personalities. Take a stroll in any direction and embrace the vibrancy of the city, whether that’s by relaxing over dinner at one of the many up-and-coming restaurants, rolling up your sleeves in a pastel de nata baking class, or strolling down by the Tagus.
Your Room
Bold and beautiful, the 87 rooms and suites embody as much personality as the city they look out over. Against a backdrop of rich colors and fabrics, you’ll find every modern convenience as you look out over the storied streets. In the bedroom, luxurious linens and Marshall speakers create a sense of sanctuary whilst in the bathroom, cult-favorite brand Le Labo are on hand to pamper.
Why we like it
There’s no denying Nuno Mendes’s role in putting Portuguese cuisine on the map. Now, he’s back in his native Lisbon with his first restaurant here, stretched across the hotel’s fifth floor. BAHR takes all the best aspects of Lisbon and injects them with well-traveled influence to present a space that is easily one of the hottest tables in town, yet without any of the pretension that should come with that title. Modern, informal and thoroughly unique, get here in time for sunset on the terrace before diving into the ever-inventive menu.
