Gothenburg

A waterfront swimming in history and neighbourhoods painted with contemporary art, Gothenburg is an intriguing city to say the least. Salivate your way through pungent food markets and check out local boutiques via foot, but our favorite way to tour the archipelago? Via kayak. Take to the water with our local guide and soak up Scandinavian stories of Viking longboats that sank so many years ago, one of which, the Askekarr longboat, can be seen Gothenburg’s very own museum.

Sweden is rewarding in every season, but the experience changes dramatically depending on when you go. June to August offers the midnight sun — daylight that lasts almost around the clock in the north, long warm evenings in Stockholm, and peak season for the archipelago. November through March is best for Swedish Lapland: husky sledding, snowmobile safaris, and the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights. Late May and September are shoulder months — fewer crowds, comfortable temperatures, and excellent conditions across the country.
