Soaking up Stockholm
Arrive into Stockholm and set off for your chic city stay, the stylish Lydmar Hotel, right in the heart of the town center. After a quick coffee, hit the streets and explore Stockholm’s different districts. Wander around the historic old town of Gamla Stan with its narrow cobbled streets and grand buildings before heading over to the bohemian cultural hub of Sodermalm. Meander amongst art galleries and boutiques before grabbing a bite to eat in one of the colorful cafes. Come night-time head out for dinner and drinks at one of Stockholm’s most stylish restaurants, Brasserie Le Rouge. With a distinct Moulin Rouge-esque feel to it (minus the cabaret), settle into the red velvet interiors and enjoy a delicious dinner in intimate surroundings before ambling back down the road to the Lydmar and falling into your sumptuous king size bed.
Explore new heights
Early the next morning you’ll set off on a helicopter tour over the archipelago for a fantastic bird’s eye view of the scattered islands below, before touching down for a fresh seafood lunch and perhaps a schnapps or two. Fed and watered, you’ll then hop into a rib boat and take to the seas on your return journey to the city center. Relax in the evening in the Lydmar’s stylish bar and restaurant with a plate of gourmet food and a cold beer before heading back to your room to catch a few zzz’s.
Go Gothenburg go
On your third morning, you’ll leave Stockholm behind and travel on to Gothenburg. You’ll be staying at the Clarion Hotel Post, a former post office loving transformed into a contemporary crash pad right at the heart of Gothenburg city center. Spend the day exploring your new surroundings; snapping away at the art nouveau architecture and checking out some of the city’s stunning contemporary gallery spaces. Take a walk through the Garden Society of Gothenburg and make sure to stop off at the Röhsska Museum for a peek into some innovative Scandinavian design, before heading back to the hotel for a quick freshen up pre-dinner. This evening you’ll be dining in one of Sweden’s very best restaurants, Sjömagasinet. Set at the edge of Gothenburg harbor, this little place serves up some of the best seafood you are likely to sample alongside a varied range of classic wines, hand picked to complement your meal by the restaurant’s expert sommelier.
Working your way back from plate to preparation to catch, you’ll be spending the following morning out on a lobster or shellfish safari out on the archipelago seas. Learn the tricks of the trade from your experienced fisherman guides who will take you through everything from hauling up the pots to cooking up your catch and of course, sampling the fruits of your labour.
Float your boat
On day five you’ll set off for the Bohuslän’s outer archipelago where you’ll find the ultra-modern floating hotel, Salt and Sill. Spend the next couple of days enjoying the marine scenery and soaking up the spectacular views from your private rooftop Jacuzzi. Learn how to recreate some of Salt and Sill’s culinary masterpieces in their very own cooking school, or take an evening cruise along the coast and indulge in a spot of restaurant hopping – rest assured that wherever you stop will be serving only the very finest fare. On your last day on the archipelago set off on a kayaking tour of the Koster Marine National Park, looking out for spotted seals and enjoy stunning views back over the region’s rocky coastline.
