The Manor at Ngorongoro
Spending your nights at the Manor at Ngorongoro truly is ‘bucket list’ material. Standing proudly in the Shangri La estate in north west Tanzania this stately manor house and its 20 regal suites are a classic example of old world charm meets new world hospitality. Dine on your own private terrace or take a guided estate tour to make the most of this beautiful lodge and the surrounding gardens.
Location
Surrounded by the world heritage Ngorongoro crater and the natural splendour of the Tanzanian highlands this sanctuary is the ideal base for a one of a kind safari experience. After a short flight from Arusha to Manayara airstrip a 45 minute drive will take you to the Manor at Ngorongoro.
Your Room
The 10 sumptuous cottages and suites will not disappoint, each complete with log burning fireplace and private sun terrace, designed to optimize the views of the surrounding verdant hills. We love the traditional cape Dutch architecture and the Victorian claw styled tub is a great way to unwind after a day of spotting game. The toughest decision you will need to make is whether to relax and unwind in the sauna and steam room or kick back with sundowner cocktails at the manor.
Why we like it?
Here the mix of traditional Tanzanian bush experience and old world charm and architecture is balanced perfectly. For a unique picnic experience couple your full day safari with lunch on the Ngorogongo crater floor surrounded by game and the crater rim. The manor also offers mountain biking or perhaps one of our highlights – horse riding around the coffee estate.
