World Cup winners, Nobel Prize laureates. Wine, steak – and cowboys. Argentina really ‘has it all’, making seven days here a kind of world tour packed into the bounds of a single country. The cities are thriving, and the mountains of Patagonia are life-affirming. And it’s always a good time to get really, really intimate.

They say that all good movies follow a three-act structure. This trip takes a similarly cinematic route: the city, the lakes, the wilderness, between elegant Parisian mansions and the majestic Cerro Tronador. It’s all highs.
The Four Seasons Buenos Aires is an equine-themed institution. Sitting pretty within the ever-modish neighbourhood of Recoleta, you’ll have the whole city – its barrios, its tango, its barbecues, its galleries – at your disposal. We’re jealous.
There’s a lot – a lot – to do in Buenos Aires. It’s why we’ve given you five days to get stuck in. The highlight is a cycle tour through the ‘green lungs’ of the city: Palermo and Recoleta. The rose gardens of Carlos Thays. The Mansions of Palermo Chico. The on-trend eateries of Palermo Soho. From peddle-level, you’ll get a proper understanding of why we love this city so much, and so deeply.
Your base, for the next three nights, is Llao Llao – a bountiful bolthole located on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi, the first of Argentina’s 35 national parks. If ‘the lake district’ suggests England’s Cumbria – as lovely as it is – you couldn’t be more wrong, with 7,050 square km of puma mythology, ancient sorcery, and sky-grazing mountains on your doorstep.
People come to Patagonia for all sorts of reasons. The wine. The food. The adventure. You’ll get a taste of all these things, in time. But today, it’s about footwork – trekking the winding way of the legendary Andes Trail. A bit of scrambling, views of the Cerro Tronador, crossing the ‘Gandolf Bridge’, and rappelling down to your lunch spot. Yes, rappelling.
Grilled meat is ‘the’ thing in Argentina. So, we’ve arranged for you to get a private seat at the chef’s table for your own asada barbecue. Because steak, as they say, is life.
