Nafplia Palace Hotel & Villas, Peloponnese
Caught somewhere between ancient and modern Greece, Nafplia Palace Hotel & Villas takes it all in from its perch on a Bronze Age acropolis. Beneath the rugged stone exterior however, you’ll find a sleek, contemporary hotel that offers a sophisticated hideaway. Sweeping views across the Bay of Argolis take center stage at every turn here, whether that’s from the balconies and terraces of the 84 rooms and villas, the infinity edge of the pool or the gourmet Amimoni restaurant. There’s even a secret lift down to the waterfront.
Location
The hilltop location means you’ll have the whole of Nafplio laid out before you. Across the bougainvillea clad rooftops lies the iridescence of the Bay of Argolis with the ancient fortifications of the isle of Bourtzi dropped amid the blue. Sitting on the Peloponnese Peninsula, Nafplio puts you in touching distance of the ancient sights of Olympia, Corinth and Mycenae whilst Athens airport is just an hour a half away.
Your Room
Designed to make the most of the incomparable views, the 84 rooms and villas all open out onto private balconies and terraces, some with private pools. The decor is contemporary with a neutral color palette and light-filled spaces. The villas offer one or two bedrooms and with their spacious outdoor areas, are perfect for those looking to unwind in total privacy.
Why we like it
Nafplia Palace is a faultless fusion of old and new and offers the perfect base from which to explore the sights of Nafplio. We loved looking out over this ancient world from the modern surroundings, no more so than over dinner at Amimoni as the sun sunk into the Aegean, seemingly setting the bay on fire.
