Grenada
Spice Island, Grenada
Spice Island Beach Resort has earned its place among Grenada’s finest properties. And it’s not hard to see why. Set directly on Grand Anse, the island’s most celebrated stretch of sand, it offers a genuinely spacious, unhurried experience with generously sized suites and villas. Polished, well-run, and consistently excellent, this is a resort that delivers on its reputation.
LOCATION
The resort sits on Grand Anse – a two-mile arc of white sand on Grenada’s southwest coast that consistently ranks among the Caribbean’s finest beaches. The island’s capital, St. George’s, is a short drive away, and the broader island is easily explored from here: waterfalls, spice plantations, and rainforest all within reach.
YOUR ROOM
The Royal Collection Suites are the standout choice. Larger and more private than the resort’s standard beachfront options, they come with dedicated plunge pools and butler service, positioned either directly on the sand or within the landscaped grounds. Interiors are thoughtfully put together, with Caribbean colour palettes, generous bathrooms, and layouts that work equally well for couples and families.
WHO IT SUITS
Spice Island works particularly well for families. The beach is calm and swimmable, the suites are generously laid out, and the resort takes care of the rest, leaving you free to actually enjoy being in Grenada. Organized activities and clubs keep younger guests occupied, while adults have the spa and a full range of non-motorised water equipment at their disposal. The contained beachfront setting gives children room to move freely, and parents room to relax.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Grand Anse is the obvious draw, but Spice Island’s ability to balance beach life with the broader appeal of Grenada is what keeps us recommending it. The island’s spice plantations, waterfalls, and vibrant capital are all within easy reach, and the resort makes it easy to get out and use them. The spa is among the best in the Caribbean, drawing on local ingredients like nutmeg and cocoa in its treatments. And the cuisine, across multiple restaurants, is genuinely impressive. The pan-seared scallops at Oliver’s are a must.
SUSTAINABILITY
Spice Island has a tangible commitment to sustainability. Solar energy heats water across the property, a desalination plant reduces freshwater consumption, and a beachfront replanting program helps protect against coastal erosion. An organic garden supplies fresh herbs and produce directly to the resort’s kitchens, and single-use plastics have been replaced with biodegradable and plant-based alternatives throughout. The resort also funds the Sir Royston Hopkin Scholarship, supporting the education of children from the surrounding community.
