Upon collecting your rental vehicle on day three, a four hour drive south through the lush farmlands of the Waikato will take you to Taupo where you will set up base at the iconic, Huka Lodge. There is plenty to explore in Taupo and it is certainly an exciting place for the active traveler. From horse-riding, to fishing (Taupo is the trout fishing capital of New Zealand), and golfing to private helicopter tours, we’ll ensure you get to see this enchanting region from as many perspectives as possible during your two night stay.

Just two hours away, Hawke’s Bay is where you’ll head on your fifth day, and three nights at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers will be just enough to immerse yourself in the rich agricultural surroundings. There’s more to discover about the wine industry here, and why not indulge? You’re on vacation after all.

A day’s cycling tour will be arranged for you whilst at Hawke’s Bay, with a private guide showing you the scenic orchards and beautiful coastal views. Lunch will be provided at one of the working vineyards on the way such as Elephant Hill or Clearview, before returning you via transfer to your hotel. Make sure to take part in some of the fantastic walking tours or understand some of the productive homesteads on your day of leisure. This is a way of life a far cry from the rat-race of home, and you’ll no doubt be inspired.

On your eight day you’ll head on to the coolest little capital, Wellington for two nights at the Intercontinental. A private gourmet tour of the city will whet your appetite for things to come, and you’ll have the opportunity to sample local cuisines, wines and, interestingly, coffee. Wellington is well known as a gastronomical feast! There is plenty to do during your stay in Wellington, and we recommend strolling through the city’s boutique stores and bars to see how the ‘locals’ do it. Be sure to visit the Carter Observatory too for awesome views across the land and the amazing Te Papa museum If you want to get up close to some Oscars and look at how New Zealand’s landscape has become home to many a blockbuster film, take a tour of the Weta Workstore.

Leaving the car in Wellington, you’ll fly to Christchurch to pick up a new vehicle, before checking in at Otahuna Lodge. Christchurch is fondly known as the New Zealand’s Garden City and the English heritage of the city stands out in the botanical gardens and historic architecture, and Otahuna is a fine example of that. Across the scenic Canterbury Plains lies Twizel, where walking and trekking through the Mount Cook National Park will be the order of the day. A stunning World Heritage Site, this area is home to the highest peak in Australasia, the mighty Mount Cook, so we can guarantee some simply incredible views.

Your journey continues on to Queenstown the following day, where yet again spell-binding mountains provide the perfect back drop for this idyllic haven. Spend three nights at the Eichardt’s Private Hotel in the heart of the town, as we fill you days with private helicopter tours of the majestic Milford Sound, as well as visits to former mining settlements and Lord of the Rings set visits too.
