Special Operations

I didn’t start out in travel. First, I had my hands full organizing massive sporting events around the world – from 5 and 10k races to relays. But it’s fair to say that I saw a lot of the world, even then.

As an account manager for Black Tomato’s Special Projects team, I still get to use this well-oiled organizational side of my brain. It takes a lot of focus and logistical know-how to pull off the types of trips we work on. That might be a 50-person, multigenerational celebration in a Montana ranch. It might be a corporate getaway to Hawaii. It sounds like a cliche, but no two days are ever the same.

I’ve always found that thoughtfulness is the magic ingredient that helps us to make moments like this work. It’s about paying attention to the details and anticipating the needs of the people who travel with us. In a lot of ways, it’s still a lot like running a relay.

A closer look at Jackson Hole

My favourite place to travel is Jackson Hole. It was my first experience of snowboarding in the US – and it was also where I got engaged. And yes, while the snowboarding is impeccable, I also have a real fondness for its waffle joints and steakhouses. You build up an appetite out on the piste.
